The last week or two has been cuh-razy and the adventure continues as we slash things off our BCS Summer Bucket List left and right!
For the Markeys summer usually means travel whether we’re the ones traveling or the ones being traveled to. This summer we’ve had the chance to be both multiple times! For basically half of July we’ve had a minimum of 8 people in our house at all times. This means wine, lots of wine, but also TONS of fun!
Personally, I think the highlight of this summer (so far) has been our little getaway to Galveston. It’s been years since I have spent much time in Galveston and I don’t remember it being too fabulous but our 4 days exceeded every expectation I had. We rented a 3 bedroom condo at Pointe West Beach Club, a resort on the FAR west end of Galveston. It was fairly private and the beach was so much cleaner and cleared than I had ever seen at Galveston. We spent the majority of our days hopping back and forth between the pool and the beach – the perfect combination for a low key getaway!
Left: Before our dresses got wet and we just couldn’t stand to wear wet dresses. Right: Once mom gave in and removed our wet dresses. (I strongly believe in picking your battles!)
We also had the chance to do a little tubing! The girls had so much fun until they weren’t having fun anymore which is about the same time the tube did a little nosedive and we all ended up in the water.
Once our getaway came to an end we were left with 6 days to fill with fun with our cousins and aunt and uncle. First stop? Chuck E Cheese! I’ve found that the key to Chuck E Cheese is to go on weekdays during the day. I’m sure some of you know this already but it’s a rare treat to have daytime weekday fun in the Markey House.
We also tried our hand at bowling. I’m proud to say that Cam was 2nd place!
We also had a blast at our new splash pad! Well, not OUR Splash Pad but our neighborhood splash pad. We’re happy residents of Castle Rock and frequent our pool often. Now we have one more reason to slip into our swimsuits the moment we walk in the door, especially on triple digit days. Wanna be my neighbor?
Clearly they’re miserable, right?!
Unfortunately our cousins left and things had to go back to normal. What better what to get normal back than by breaking your arm in two places? This means we’re going to be busy finding really fun things to do that do NOT involve water like these adorable buckets of Summer Sand Pudding! We will be hitting the beach again in the very near future so I’m already working on a few other ideas and will report back! (In case you were wondering this was NOT on our BCS Summer Bucket List!)
We hope you are having the best summer ever while working on your BCS Summer Bucket List! A summer that’s full of adventure, occasional lazy days and tons of firsts.
Follow Avery’s lead and embrace it before it’s gone!
